Blue Cards

The "blue card" is the starting point for earning any merit badge. Here are our troop's procedures for working with blue cards.

Merit Badge Counselors

Our troop has adult volunteers to help you earn your badges. Here is the list of Merit Badge Counselors.

Advancement

We have a diagram that shows the process for advancement, including the actions that are to be taken by the scout, the Scout Master, the Advancement chair, and the Board of Review chair.

The requirements for attaining the various scout ranks changed recently. Boys who joined the troop after January 1, 2010, may only advance by meeting the new requirements. Follow this link to see what is different: http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/BoyScouts/AdvancementandAwards/2010RankUpdates.aspx

Board of Review -- procedures and expectations

Follow these steps to prepare for and to complete a Board of Review, awarding you advancement to the next rank.

Board of Review Committee members: if you have not yet completed BOR training, you may not participate in any BOR. Please contact the Training Chair to arrange for BOR training. This training packet will help you participate in BORs.

Merit Badges -- requirements and other information

Look here for great information on the requirements for the various merit badges.

Here are some sites that can help with specific skills:

    • Knot tying
These knots will fulfill the rank requirements for Tenderfoot and First Class:
Tenderfoot: 2 half hitches and a taut-line hitch
First Class: timber hitch and clove hitch, and their use in square, shear, and diagonal lashing

If you are planning on becoming an Eagle Scout (and we hope your are!), you'll need the Merit Badge Requirements for Eagle Scout form, where you can list the Eagle-required merit badges that you have earned.
